Commitment

Commitment…What does it look like to you? Do we have the worlds view of commitment or Christ view?

I never knew how much I struggled with commitment. For me it meant to join together with others and do my best to work things out. But I was missing the key concept… To kill off and let go of every other option.

Christ came down and was not only committed to us, committed to the Father! When he was tempted by the devil He didn’t give up his commitment and take the other options. When His own people called Him demon possessed and blasphemes He didn’t get discouraged and give up on His commitment to the reason He was sent. All the way to the cross Jesus stayed committed to His Father and the calling on His earthly life.

How committed are we to God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. Do we listen to them, do we follow them, do we obey them? Have we cut off every other option in devoted commitment to our God… Not just joining with God but purging every desire to look to other options when things get rough?

Does out life reflect a life tied to God and not ourselves? A good step in the direction of authentic commitment is to genuinely know and get to know the other or thing we’re committing to. It is imperative that we get to know Christ and desire Him and where He sends us over all other things!
